Access Our Report: Protein and Gene Expression Differences Associated with COVID-19 Disease Severity

In a previously published study, blood samples from patients with acute respiratory distress and suspected COVID-19 infection were profiled using the proximity extension assay (PEA) developed by Olink (Filbin et al., 2021, Cell Reports Medicine). Whole blood samples from patients with “mild to moderate”, “severe” or “critical” cases of COVID-19, as well as healthy controls, were profiled using the NanoString Human Immunology Panel v2, as described previously (Hadjadj et al., 2020, Science). The aim of the analysis detailed in our report is to characterise gene and protein expression differences associated with COVID-19 disease severity and to assess the congruence between the two studies at the feature and functional levels.
