Dr Paul McAdamAssociate Director of Data Science

Paul joined the Fios team in 2015 as a bioinformatician, and is now Associate Director of Data Science. In this role he leads and mentors a multidisciplinary team of analysts delivering advanced bioinformatics and statistical analyses across all major omics modalities. His team supports a wide range of organisms and experimental designs, working closely with academic, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical partners to generate robust, reproducible insights from complex biological data.

Paul completed an MA in Medicine at the University of Cambridge followed by an MRes in Computational Biology at the University of York, including research at the University of California, San Diego on computational approaches to vaccine design. He completed his PhD at the Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh, applying molecular epidemiology and phylogenetic methods to understand pathogen evolution and infectious disease outbreaks. More recently, his research and collaborative publications have focused on cancer genomics and transcriptomics, including the analysis of bulk and single-cell RNA-seq data, differential splicing, pathway and gene set analyses, and integrative multi-omics approaches to understand tumour heterogeneity, disease mechanisms, and treatment response in oncology settings.
