Business Development Manager

Fios Genomics is a bioinformatics service provider performing data analysis, mining and integration projects for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies worldwide. We are currently in a period of sustained and rapid growth and are looking for a talented and ambitious individual to join our commercial team.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a professional, highly motivated and experienced scientific sales individual, seeking to apply their scientific knowledge in growing sales within a defined US territory, the fastest growing geographical market for Fios Genomics. The successful applicant would be given responsibility for a defined geographical US territory and would be tasked with developing and maintaining new relationships. The role will involve negotiating and closing business, plus exploring avenues for new business to achieve individual and team sales targets.

Role Details

The candidate should have a minimum of a MSc degree (PhD highly regarded) in a life sciences discipline. Technical training and support will be provided, however, individuals with previous experience in a client facing role related to bioinformatics/genomics services would be highly regarded. The candidate is required to be a motivated self-starter driven by achieving targets, who appreciates the requirement for frequent field travel and has the ability to scientifically engage key decision makers. Effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is essential.

The successful applicant will be expected to:

  • Generate leads for probable sales by conducting frequent trips to the defined territory and using marketing and online tools
  • Establish and maintain excellent customer relationships
  • Write formal proposals
  • Develop and negotiate contracts from conception through to deal close
  • Be involved in the development of strategy to achieve sales targets
  • Support marketing activities, including trade/ scientific shows, mailings, etc.
  • Use and maintain the CRM system to manage clients and leads

Fios Genomics provides an extensive range of genomic and bioinformatic data analysis services to Pharma, CROs and academia for drug discovery & development and applied research.

These services provide expert statistical and pathway-based approaches for the analysis and interpretation of a variety of data types generated from R&D, pre-clinical development and clinical validation for applications ranging from biomarker & pathway discovery, predictive toxicology, pharmacogenomics and pharmacogenetics (SNP genotyping/ DNA sequencing).

Fios has extensive expertise in therapeutic areas such as immunology, inflammation, oncology and infectious diseases which can be applied to the analysis, mining and interpretation of data for discovery of genomic (RNA and DNA) biomarkers and biological pathways. Fios can also perform meta-analyses of data from multiple sources.

Additional Information

  • Position is full-time
  • Extensive international travel is involved in this role (~20%; 8-10 US trips per year)
  • Salary commensurate with experience with attractive commission package
  • Position will be hybrid working role.
